ActiveState Python Libraries
ActiveState has recently released a couple of new specialized libraries for their version of python.
The libraries seem to be for the financial sector, where apparently python is making some head ways. See ActiveState bolsters Python with financial and scientific capabilities.
The libraries are NumPy, SciPy, and matplotlib. The extended libraries and sundry packages for the finance sector are listed here – Must-Have Python Packages for Finance
So, why would you want to use ActiveState Python, which does cost and it’s not cheap, when you can get Python for free? The same reason that you would buy RedHat Linux. For the reliability, utilities, and support.
ActiveState lists the options here – http://www.activestate.com/compare-editions
