2008 IBM Information Management Awards

The IBM Info awards are around again. There is a link on the U2 page or go here.

I had a quick look at last years winners, and I did not recognize any U2 partners. So, go to it and vote for your favorite vendor, VAR/VAD or software house.

wIntegrate 6.1

To match the release of the podcast this week, IBM have also released version 6.1 of wIntegrate. It appears to have numerous enhancements ranging from reporting to Javascript applet integration, and the long touted thin client java-in-a-browser install mode.

I stopped using wIntegrate some years ago when I switched to SBClient, for the full gui 4GL experience.

I will have to wait and see if a pe version is released. It really does sound rather exciting…

Off to the IBM U2 University in San Francisco

Getting ready today for the trip tomorrow to San Francisco for the IBM U2 University.

I have gone over the various sessions several times. There are three streams or tracks; Data Servers, Application Development and Emerging Technologies running simultaneously. There are 4 sessions which are duplicated over the 2 1/2 days.

It is going to be rather a busy time attempting to cover most of the more interesting sessions and I believe that I may have to make some choices. As I am not really a Unidata person, I can cut out a couple of sessions and I am not that interested in dotNet stuff either, so this should help.

I have also decided not to take the certification testing opportunities as it eats into the sessions and the cost savings are only a couple of hundred each test. Otherwise, it looks like a good time all round.
